Seeking an enthusiastic individual to join the administrative team for the planning year of the Central Sands Community High School founded on the core principles of Public Waldorf Education. A love for working with colleagues in a collaborative and supportive manner and openness for the unexpected are essential. This key position will provide pedagogical leadership, curriculum and classroom development for the school community during its planning year under the direction of the Governance Board. This person holds the vision of the school, ensuring the quality of the curriculum and creating a spirit of collaboration and mutual support with all those involved in the planning. They will also support the school’s healthy growth and development through cultivating and maintaining strong relationships with the Governance Board, the potential parents, other partners, and the broader community. The school site will not be available until August 2022, this position would work remotely but would need to be available for periodic in-person meetings. For the 2021-2022 fiscal year, this is a half time position, beginning July 1, 2021 through June 30, 2022, with the potential to transition into a Lead Teacher for the school Job Description: 1. Embody the vision, mission, goals and philosophy of the Central Sands Community High School 2. Help envision and create the school culture, clarifying relationships, determining roles, responsibilities and systems for accountability, and supporting the vibrancy of the educational program 3. Develop curriculum aligned to the Waldorf pedagogy and philosophy of child development while ensuring alignment to common core standards 4. Gather resources and classroom materials for incoming teachers 5. Attend conferences and trainings on Waldorf, Charter Schools, etc., and participate in professional development 6. Assist in the creation of daily and weekly school schedules and annual school calendar 7. Assist in facility arrangements and classroom set-up 8. Provide monthly progress reports to the Governance Board and weekly communication with the Development Director 9. Consistently demonstrate a collaborative and solution-oriented approach in achieving outcomes, this position will work in tandem with the Administrative Director 10. Demonstrate flexibility, problem-solving skills and the ability to work successfully as part of a team and interact well with the board, parents, community organizations, corporations, and DPI officials This job description in no way states or implies that these are the only duties to be performed by this employee. Excellent computer skills, including proficiency in Google Docs. and other academic programming 2. Strong analytical skills including ability to take specific data and work toward positive, concise plan of action and effectively articulate that in written and verbal form 3. High level of enthusiasm for teaching and learning 4. The ability to work cooperatively with others in bringing a new vision to fruition 5. A philosophical belief in the Charter School movement and the Waldorf philosophy of teaching/learning Minimum Qualifications: 1. Appropriate Wisconsin DPI licensure for position a. Three plus years of teaching experience preferable at the high school level b. Experience in curriculum development c. Educational leadership desired 2. Experience/training/certification in Waldorf Education desired 3. Must demonstrate: effective communication skills – oral, written, and technological; time management, organizational and group facilitation skills; communication skills among diverse audiences, including students, staff, board, and community partners 4. Experience working cross-culturally and/or commitment to work toward improving one’s own cultural proficiency: valuing difference/diversity, recognizing personal limitations in one’s skills and expertise, and having the desire to learn in these areas 5. Demonstrate alignment to the Core Principles of Public Waldorf Education and the vision and mission of the school 6. Demonstrate leadership experience that enriches a strong and positive school community, inspires and motivates staff, and sees the unique individual in each student 7.
