Position Summary:

The role of the Assistant Controller will encompass a wide range of financial duties in the Business Office. The position will be support to: The Controller, Executive Director of Business Services, and Building Level Secretaries as needed. The position will need to adhere to District and the State of Wisconsin Statutes.

Essential Functions:

1.      Will be responsible for auditing individual school cash, checking, and various financial accounts.  Will work closely with building Secretaries.

2.      Will review monthly bank reconciliations for various schools/district bank accounts.

3.      Will manage accounting claims for Federal Grants as assigned by the Controller.

4.      Will work with various administrators, principals, and OASD staff on budget management, account coding, and answering questions as needed.

5.      Balance various G/L accounts.

6.      Assist in preparation of the annual budget.

7.      Assist with the annual audit process.

8.      Responsible for fixed asset reconciliation.

9.   Performs other tasks as needed

 

 

Other Responsibilities:

1.      The employee shall remain free of any alcohol or illegal substance in the workplace in compliance with Policy 4122.01 - Drug-free Workplace throughout his/her employment in the district.

2.      All other duties as assigned (5%)


 

 

 
Required Education, Experience, and Skills:
 

1.      Bachelor’s degree with an emphasis in accounting or finance.

2.      CPA license is required.

3.      Excellent oral and written communication skills.

4.      Excellent computer skills and familiarity with Excel and Word. 

5.      Interpersonal skills necessary to conduct relationships with other people within and outside of the district.

 

6.      Such alternatives to the above qualifications as the board may find appropriate and acceptable

 

Preferred Education, Experience, and Skills:

1.      Public K-12 school experience preferred.

2.   Previous public-school accounting experience would be beneficial but not required.

3.   Licensure: The successful candidate with be able to obtain Wisconsin Department of Public Instruction (DPI) License #5008 within three years of the date of hire and maintain the license in good standing thereafter
