Position Details
Duties of the Position:
a) Treat all students, staff, parents and others encountered on the job with respect, compassion and patience
b) Assist teacher in: Maintaining classroom organization; providing support in an inclusion setting; reinforcing previously taught concepts as prescribed by the teacher in an individual or small group setting; preparing teaching materials
c) Perform and maintain positive behavior management techniques as directed by the teacher, including but not limited to: making positive and meaningful relationships with all students, supervising time outs, manage conflicts between students including physically aggressive students, enforcing school and classroom expectations, to motivate and encourage students to become their best selves.
d) At this age, personal care/self-help skills need to taught, assisted with and encouraged to perservive through, including but not limited to: feeding, bathrooming skills, hygiene-washing, nose wiping, dressing, etc.
e) adhere to schedules and/or daily lesson plans
f) maintain open communication with the classroom teacher/other staff members
g)small and large group instruction and supervision
h)must possess the following characteristics; flexible, able to take direction, patient, willing to work with young children and loves kids!
i) Other duties as assigned
Work Schedule of the Position: Monday-Friday, School Year Only, 7:00-3:00 (summer work could be available through summer school opportunities)
Additional Comments: Position requires you to be on your feet frequently along with bending, sitting on the floor and moving with young children. Lifting up to 30 pounds occasionally
