The Verona Area School District is looking for a strong equity-centered instructional leader, cultural changer and community builder to join our progressive school district as of July 1, 2023, as the Principal of Verona Area High School. We believe that each student should have access to the resources and educational rigor they need, at the right moment in their education, regardless of race, gender, ethnicity, ability, language, family background, or family income. The Verona Area School District (VASD) is a PreK – 12 public school district of approximately 5,900 students located near Madison, WI. VASD is a growing school district with 10 schools including three charter schools and a two-way immersion Spanish program. Our incredible VASD student body is 38% non-white, 28% receive free or reduced lunches, 13% percentage are English Learners and 8% receive special education services. Our staff is 850+ strong between all positions including full and part time. Verona Area High School is a grade 9-12 monolingual and multilingual two-way immersion school and a part of the VASD. There are many reasons why our high school is an incredible school. One of those reasons is the diversity of the students that call the High School their school. Of the almost 1,700 students who attend the High School, 38% are students of color, 10% are students who are linguistically diverse, 8% are students with special needs and 30% are students whose families receive assistance with meal costs. The High School serves students from geographically separated areas of our District drawing from parts of nearby neighborhoods as well from the City of Verona, Fitchburg and other rural areas. The dedicated, well-trained and hard-working staff is a mix of highly experienced and those new to the profession who are eager to work collaboratively with each other and their next principal. Salary, Benefits, Length of Contract: This position works a year round (12 month) contract with starting compensation based on experience of no less than $145,999 plus exceptional benefits package.
