Job Goal: The Principal's Secretary is responsible for assisting and supporting the Building Principal. The secretary is also responsible for filing reports and communications, answering general questions, providing information, and maintaining building-wide communications. The secretary represents the professional climate of the office and, as the first person with whom the public has contact must reflect a positive and professional demeanor. Essential Duties and Responsibilities: The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill and/or ability required. 1. Assist with the registration of new and returning students. 2. Record and maintain student records, petty cash, filing reports with the building principal; collect and deposit monies for special events, field trips, yearbook, etc. 3. Maintain building calendar and assist with scheduling team meetings, staffings, and conferences. 4. Collect/deposit lunch money for MS/HS. Build lunch accounts for students and staff. 5. Assist with student health needs including administration of authorized medications and completion of necessary reports; provide first aid and CPR as necessary, and contact parents as directed. 6. Complete clerical tasks as assigned by the building principal. 7. Answer office telephone; respond appropriately to requests for information, accurately record messages and/or direct calls as needed. 8. Inventory office and building supplies and submit purchase recommendations to the principal. 9. Assist with the preparation and distribution of report cards. 10. Assist with student scheduling and the maintenance of class lists. 11. Maintain building level employee and student records as necessary. 12. Working knowledge of Skyward Student Management software a plus. 13. Prepare money boxes for athletic events and count money after athletic events. 14. Input team rosters/schedules in rSchool. 15. Prepare tickets for presale for WIAA tournament events. 16. Update files for athletes (physicals, alternate year cards and permission forms). 17. Assign athletic event workers. 18. Assist with student/athlete ineligibility. 19. Knowledge of rSchool Athletic/Facilities scheduler a plus. 20. Greet all visitors courteously, determine their needs, check appointments, and direct or escort them to the proper area. 21. Report immediately the presence in the building of any visitor who bypasses the reception desk or any suspicious activity or unusual behavior on the part of visitors. 22. Accurately complete all other duties as assigned by the building principal. This position is 8 hours per day; 12 months; non-supervisory.
